Week Fourteen: Java Jive

This song is based on a true story. Even though we don’t know what half of it means, the theme is clear. Coffee Rules! Really, this song is our most heartfelt to date. We love coffee, and we love tea.

This song was first recorded by the Ink Spots in 1940, though it seems that it was popularized by Manhattan Transfer sometime in the 80′s. We also found out that “a slice of onion and a raw one” refers to the custom of brewing coffee with a slice of onion and a raw egg. Ugh.

Did you do the back up voices, too? Terrific. The Manhattan Transfer had a concert in Gill Colisium in the 80s–at the end of their tour–they were HOT! And, so are you!
